Once upon a time, there was a social media network called Twitter, which - although never perfect - was certainly a lot closer to that mark than the hellscape that it is today.
Twitter (RIP) even had a nice open API where developers like myself could experiment and create fun little bots to communicate with certain communities, say, the Dark Souls community.
Then of course, Elon Musk spent $44bn to take over the platform, fired half the staff, opened the floodgates to hate speech and extremists - and even told the remaining devs to boost his messages higher than those of US President's.
Putting aside Musk being the world's saddest man; and that Mark Zuckerberg is desperately trying to match that with his 'masculine energy' - there came something better, Bluesky - an open source social network.
Long story short, I created a Dark Souls Twitter Bot - which after a few years out-of-action is now reborn as a Dark Souls Bluesky Bot.
The bot's only purpose is to tweet randomly generated cryptic messages taken from the Dark Souls game series, but hey ho - it's back.
As the logic for the app was already written, I set up a new Deno app, threw in the easy to use Bluesky API calls and bam! Job done.
Take the plunge. You won't die.
